The Rum Kitchen

Last year I decided to go out more,  juggling work and a small child has its challenges, however it’s nice to be yourself for a little,  come out of ‘mummy mode’  and appreciate what’s around you.

I am not one to really organise things so happily excepted an offer from the groups little social butterfly (Shakira) who will find places to try and experience. The Rum Kitchen was the chosen place located in the Uber trendy Notting Hill.

How Old Skool Friends can make you feel young 😃😃😃

2015/01/img_0180.jpg

I consider myself lucky, lucky because I am still in contact with so many of my school friends, and STILL able to call them good friends after 25 years (silver wedding anniversary mate). Most of us are celebrating our 30 *cough* something birthdays in a few months, this gives us an opportunity to meet up, laugh about old times and new experiences and make new memories.

Just a quickie!

image

This is just a quickie! Just to talk about what will be going on with the blog.
WELL it will still continue in much the same format,  I have to say in the beginning I wasn’t sure what avenue I wanted to take ,  I mean there are millions of blogs online with similar content.

I just thought  I need to be me and the rest would follow.. So I did and in the process  I have had some amazing feedback which I am VERY grateful for x

In addition I bit the bullet and decided to send some work off last year.  I was truly shocked that the pieces  were published  for The online magazine Eeveelife.co.uk  (I will put the links up to my  stuff down below) I am so so so grateful for this opportunity and to God.
Anyway thats enough of the crazy ramblings,  actually it’s not and I will probably write a whole lot more!

Guilt, privilege, and questions I was afraid to ask.

Last night fire swept through the streets

Climbed the walls,

The rugs racism has been swept under,

Heavy.  Burning.

I am white,

And I am guilty.

Of not being brave enough

To sit down with a black mother

Look her in the eye

And ask,

“What does it feel like?”

To be afraid for your babies

Your beautiful children, eyes full of love.

I am a coward,

Because I was afraid of the heaviness

Of letting that pain into my space.

My privilege is the freedom

To acknowledge oppression

Yet decide when I want to have the conversation.

Choosing whether to avoid the discomfort.

Choosing at all.

Maybe change begins

When suffering is so vast

It no longer fits inside human bodies.

When the ugly silence of fear

Is so loud, we can no longer deny it.

And when my heart aches as I look at you

Knowing that your truth…

What Lies Beneath………

For the last six years I have driven to work, however due to a location change I recently started taking Public Transport namely the London Underground, affectionately known as the ‘The Tube’. Oh the joy I felt not having to deal with Traffic, Pollution, and 4x4s. Friends warned me of the horrors that lurked beneath but alas I did not heed, I was just excited about not having to honk my horn in the mornings and enjoy a ‘relatively’ stress free journey to work. A lamb to the slaughter I tell you, A LAMB TO THE SLAUGHTER. It is not the Journey but the passengers that caused the most shock, amusement, and empathy.

To be a Child

earth-from-space-1  Earth from Space where we live together… as one Human Body.

The other day I watched my Son approach another little boy and ask if he could play with him.  The other child was a little shy, my Son was pretty persuasive to the point the ice was broken and they played a very excitable game of ‘Hide and Seek’
